As a birth photographer, I witness so many special moments in the first hours and days of life. However, the baby season of life is only the beginning of the journey, and as time passes, babies grow and begin adventures all their own as adults. This session was an incredible reminder of just how quickly that journey takes shape.

A few weeks before she turned her tassel, I had the opportunity to share some special moments with this beautiful college graduate and capture the joy she expressed when opening some surprises from her Mama. The tears flowed as she opened a small box containing her very first tassel; carefully saved years ago to be revealed in this moment along with a few other childhood mementos.

So much personal hard work and dedication brought her to this day, but the tassel was a beautiful reminder of the support system that’s been with her through it all.

Shooting some black and white film was another highlight of our session, and I’m so happy to have been able to give her some timeless black and white film portraits with a unique and classic feel.

Her joy and appreciation were contagious, and I’m so grateful to have been able to celebrate this wonderful achievement with her!

Newborn and birth photography images may fill my portfolio, but I’ll always make room for a few senior portrait sessions each year. There’s nothing like capturing the youthful spirit of a senior who has the world at her feet!
